All stakeholders gathered in Crans-Montana to prepare for 2026

The goal? To check the condition of the courses and refine organisational details to ensure everything is ready at the highest level for January 2026.

Looking ahead to the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Crans-Montana 2026 (and in the longer term the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2027), the key stakeholders of the event recently met in Crans-Montana for an important working day: FIS, Swiss-Ski, CMA (ski lifts), RTS (TV production), the technical and logistical teams of the Organising Committee, and others.

What has already been achieved

  • Course inspection: Both race courses (Mont Lachaux for the women and the Nationale for the men) were inspected point by point. Infrastructure related to team hospitality, start areas, course setting, as well as slope preparation and set-up were reviewed. Discussions also took place regarding accessibility, safety, and the placement of coaches’ platforms and TV towers.
  • Technical and logistical meeting: Following the inspection, all stakeholders gathered for a detailed debriefing to finalise the last details and coordinate the various components (staff, safety, transport, accommodation, etc.).

Logistical and sporting challenges

  • Simultaneous use of both courses: Coordinating operations on two courses at once is a major challenge. It requires ensuring that the slopes and snow conditions meet FIS standards, while also guaranteeing that logistics (Swiss Timing for timing, resources for TV production, athlete transport, medical services, staff) run smoothly between the two venues.
  • Full-scale rehearsal: The 2026 World Cup will serve as a true large-scale test and provide a foretaste of the intensity of the 2027 World Championships. The key challenge will be the simultaneous use of both courses, with training sessions scheduled shortly before the races. This scenario will not only make it possible to refine processes and identify areas for improvement, but also to ensure that the organisation meets the international standards required for a World Championship.
  • Sporting ambition: Beyond a standard World Cup, there is a clear ambition to deliver top-level races, attractive both for athletes and spectators – with television production and safety measures that fully meet global expectations.

What still needs to be improved

  • Some areas of the finish stadium are still under renovation, particularly supporting infrastructures (press building, parking, access, etc.).
  • Safety nets and peripheral protections are still being adjusted to meet FIS standards.
  • Coordination between all stakeholders must be maintained – both regarding temporary aspects (signage, TV, safety) and permanent ones (fixed infrastructure, access, parking, accommodation).

Crans-Montana is clearly progressing well: the gathering of FIS, Swiss-Ski, the ski lift company (CMA) and the Organising Committee confirms the ambition to deliver a successful 2026 edition, while laying solid foundations for the 2027 World Championships. The focus is equally on top-level sporting performances and flawless logistics – the guarantee of a World Cup, and future Championships, that will fully meet expectations.
