The European Cup super-G in Crans-Montana on Monday gave Austria both 1st and 2nd places. Swiss Marco Kohler takes 3rd place.
88 athletes lined up at the start of the European Cup super-G at Bella Lui on Monday morning. It was the first of 3 races scheduled for the week. The day's course from Bella Lui to Plat des Houlès proved particularly technical and demanding for the competitors. Fortunately, the changeable weather allowed the race to proceed normally.
Austrian Manuel Traninger took victory with a time of 1:24.30. His teammate Andreas Ploier followed close behind, 29 hundredths behind, giving him second place. Swiss Marco Kohler took 3rd place, conceding 43 hundredths to winner Manuel Traninger. The top-ranked Swiss, Marco Kohler is also here to get to know the National track before next week's World Cup races:
“I'm getting to know this new track, with lots of ground movement and hidden gates, so it's important for me ahead of next week's World Cup races.”
A special mention goes to Lenz Haechler, who finished 4th in this super-G. The Zug native, who started with bib 55, made a fine comeback in this first race of the week. Tomorrow is downhill training, before the first run on Wednesday and the second on Thursday.
